How to prepare your IT infrastructure for the AI era
AI tools can create enormous value, but only on the right infrastructure. Here's how to build a foundation that's secure, fast and ready to scale.
Organizations in every industry are rushing to adopt AI tools: smart assistants, document analysis, customer service automation and more. But success with AI depends less on the model and more on the infrastructure behind it: the data, the security and the resources.
1. Get your data in order
AI is only as good as the information it receives. Map where company data lives, who owns it and how sensitive it is. Scattered, duplicated or outdated data leads to wrong answers.
2. Security and permissions
The biggest risk is sensitive data leaking into external tools. Set a clear policy for using AI tools, apply least-privilege permissions, and make sure an AI tool only sees what the user is allowed to see.
3. The right compute resources
Some AI workloads need GPUs and fast storage. The cloud lets you start small and scale as needed, and a hybrid environment lets you keep sensitive data in-house.
4. Network and availability
AI services consume and move large amounts of data. A fast, secure and well-segmented network is a basic requirement for good performance.
5. Automation and monitoring
AI is also a tool for improving operations themselves: detecting faults before they happen, smart log analysis and automating routine tasks.
The organizations that gain the most from AI are the ones that build a stable, secure foundation first.
